What a great movie! Luca is bright, full of vibrant color, and you can tell how much heart and soul went into every single detail. Even the random background extras feel like real people living in this world. The seaside city of Portorosso feels completely lived in, from the worn wooden doors to the cozy, imperfect houses.

I loved meeting all these characters for the first time and getting to explore their personalities. The film drops subtle clues along the way for us to solve things early on, even if we do not see the full picture until near the end. The plot is fantastic, and the voice acting is top-notch. None of the actors feel like their real-life celebrity status is bigger than the actual character on screen. It was so refreshing to see Pixar construct a brand new world, and I applaud them for this one. I give it a solid 5 out of 5 stars. Honestly, it makes me want my own Vespa!
A Journey That Speaks to Childhood
Luca hit close to home because it reminded me so much of my own childhood. It captures that exact feeling of wanting to explore and go on new adventures while feeling a little nervous about the whole idea at the exact same time.
What makes the story work so well is its incredibly high rewatch factor. The entire plot is not built on a cheap 30-second "whodunit" twist at the very end. Instead, the movie IS his journey through life, making every minute of the experience worth watching over and over again.
My Rating: 5 / 5 Stars
